The short game or the feel shots around the green and putting tend to be the most difficult to regain sharpness after a long winter or layoff from golf.

As if By Nature
We pride ourselves on our commitment to blend our greens in with nature. Assessing the site and determining what the site is suited for is the key to building an aesthetically pleasing artificial green.

Project Overview
Our client in Bedford, NY wanted to build a green close to the house and near the deck and pool. The client also wanted sand traps and a tee box. The client wanted a family recreational area close to the house so that when they entertained the guests could use the green and still be a part of the party.

Project Scope
Putting green, elevated tee, green side bunker, tree work, building hills, landscaping, sodding and lawn work

Setting

Creating a new family recreational area on otherwise unusable land. The proximity to the house, pool and large deck make it an ideal location.

Setting
After carefully considering all options on the property, it was determined that the only site on the property that met all of the client’s requirements was on the side of a hill. By building the green at this location we would be turning otherwise unusable land into a family recreational area.

Construction
In order to create the golf hole our clients desired over grown bushes, trees and vines were removed to create a good site line between the elevated tee and the green. The elevated tee was built at the bottom of a steep bank.

Large natural stepping stones were placed in the side of the bank to create stairs down to the tee box from the lawn. Four hundred yards of material were brought in to level the area for the putting green.

The difference in grade allowed for a nice green side bunker, six feet below the top of the green. Drainage was a major issue for the sand traps, as we did not want them to flood during a heavy rain. Once the green, the sand traps and tee box were completed, the area around the green was sodded.

The final step was to plant beds of ornamental grasses around the green to give it a more natural look.
